Based in County Clare, Ireland, Cultural Roadmapp creates immersive experiences for motoring tourists. In 2020 the startup won the international Travel & Hospitality Award as “Cultural Tour Company of the Year – Ireland.”
-
Our signature product is the self-drive audio tour app. The inaugural Road Trip: IRELAND app features four audio tours illuminating the cultural heritage of the seven counties on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way driving route.
-
The app’s GPS and geofencing technologies trigger the audio content to play over a vehicle’s speakers, so listeners can keep hands on the wheel and eyes on the view.
-
The first audio tour in the Road Trip: IRELAND series is Clare, 2018 winner of Ireland’s Digital Media Award (Silver: Best Use of Mobile) and the US Interpretive Media Award (2nd Place: Digital Media).
-
County Clare is renowned for its vibrant music and dance traditions and its dramatic landscape, including the Cliffs of Moher.
-
Offering a fascinating context to the landscape, Clare weaves together interviews with cultural experts and local characters, storytelling and folklore, humour, world-class music and literary performances, and elegant narration by acclaimed Irish actors.
-
Spanning Ireland’s gorgeously rugged 1600-mile (2600 km) coastline, the Wild Atlantic Way holds the title as the world’s longest continuous touring route. Clare is the first and only audio tour ever created for it.
-
Clare is available in the App Store and on Google Play. Free Sampler is available upon download. The full-length tour includes a scavenger hunt and recommendations of our favourite places to eat, drink, sleep, and explore.
-
The series’ second tour, Cork & Kerry, is due to launch in Spring of 2021. The final two tours, Galway & Mayo and Sligo & Donegal, are in production.
-
Cultural Roadmapp also conceived and designed Real CLARE Experiences: close encounters pairing curious tourists with individual local experts.
-
Founder/CEO Deborah Schull is an award-winning writer and producer. President Leah Bernini Cronin PhD is an ethnomusicologist trained at the University of Limerick. They are both Americans who spent transformative years living in Ireland.
